《一八九五》是台灣首部以客家語為主的電影，不僅為政治人物們推薦，同時也是民視電視台與客家電視台的重點宣傳項目之一。影片中除了真實還原當年客家英雄抗日的感動故事，更深入全台灣超過30多個優美景點拍攝，呈現出國片難得一見的美麗和氣勢。

為了抗日，苗栗銅鑼灣鄉村秀才吳湯興投筆從戎，組成了客家義民軍。當他率領客家男丁為保家衛國而奮戰時，他的妻子黃賢妹則與全村女眷共同染衣耕作，作為他的強力後盾。吳湯興起初屢戰屢捷，後來卻在新竹阻擋日軍失利，並陷苦戰於苗栗，雖於八卦山勇挫日軍，但最後仍不幸身亡。當不幸消息傳來，哀痛逾恆的黃賢妹，決定投井殉夫…。片中描寫族群融合的精神，是所有演員在最近紛亂的時局下，最希望傳達的意念。

《一八九五》片中的場景巡訪台灣多處古蹟，包括板橋林家花園、新竹新埔雙堂屋和北埔天水堂…等地，唯美的場景也引發客家文化尋訪熱潮。除了感人的情節，導演洪智育也希望觀眾透過《一八九五》的呈現，跟著電影好好的去看看自己的土地─台灣。

1895 is the first movie in Taiwan in which the Hakka dialect is extensively spoken. The movie came highly recommended by politicians, and was heavily promoted on Formosa Television and Hakka TV. The film reenacted stories of the Hakka resistance armies against the invading Japanese troops, and was shot at over 30 locations across Taiwan. The beauty and magnificence of the scenes shot in the film rendered the work a rarity in Taiwan films. 

Township Scholar Wu Tang-hsing from Miaoli’s Tongluo Bay decided to give up his academic pursuits for a military career as news of the Japanese invasion broke out. He formed a Yimin army, consisting of Hakka men, to defend his country. His wife, Huang Hsien-mei and womenfolk of the whole township joined hands to dye and make clothes, irrigating the farms, becoming the strong backup for the men. At first Wu was victorious in every one of his battles, but suffered a setback in Hsinchu when he attempted to block the Japanese army. He and his men struggled in Miali, and though the army finally defeated the Japanese troops, Wu died in the battle. The sad news came, and his now widowed wife, Huang Hsien-mei, committed suicide in memory of her dead husband. The work depicted harmony among different ethnic groups, a message that is sorely needed in the recent political tumult. 

The movie featured a good number of popular historic sites in Taiwan, including the Lin Family Mansion and Garden, Shuangtang House in Hsin-pu and Tian Shuei Tang in Bei-pu. These scenes are expected to trigger a buzz in exploring the Hakka traditional treasures. In addition to the touching story, director Hong Zhiyu also hopes that the audience would listen to the message of his movie and learn to appreciate and love the land that mothers them – Taiwan.

《不能說的‧秘密》是周杰倫的電影處女作，由周杰倫自編、自導、自演，在華人圈的香港和中國各地都有很好的票房成績，片中融合古典音樂元素，刻劃出少男少女初戀的清純悸動，其地位不可或缺的，是建立台灣整體娛樂文化創意宏觀的在地角度。

劇情描述熱愛音樂並且琴藝過人的高中生葉湘倫，轉到父親任教的學校就讀。某日，班上出現了一位同樣熱愛彈琴的同學路小雨，投緣的兩人形影不離，情感也日漸萌芽。小雨總是相當神秘，還常彈奏一首未曾問世，但極為優美動聽的曲子。每當湘倫多想了解小雨一點，她常欲言又止，總推說是秘密。在約會時的一場誤會發生後，小雨再也沒來上課，思念著小雨又一頭霧水的湘倫決心要找出這個不能說的秘密……

電影中謎題似的穿越時光愛情，引發網友眾多討論，片中古典又唯美的校園拍攝地點─淡江中學，是周杰倫的母校，周杰倫聲稱電影裡的場景都是他和他的初戀情人去過的地方，更成為許多粉絲非得破解前往朝聖的旅遊新興景點。無論是畢業典禮的禮堂、古色古香的教室走廊，都正是淡江中學原汁原味所保留的實景風情。

Secret was written, directed, and performed by Jay Chou, garnering impressive box office sales in both Hong Kong and China. The movie integrated the beauty and music and told the story of puppy love. One of the most important landmarks that the movie had established was the local point of view of Taiwan’s entertainment and creative thinking.

Ye Xianglun, a talented music student majoring in piano, was transferred to Tamkang (Danjiang) Secondary School, where his father taught. On day he encountered a fellow classmate in school, Xiaoyu, whose passion for piano equals his. The two became inseparable, and feelings began to grow between them. Xiaoyu is fond of playing a mysterious melody, and when he asks her about the song she was playing, she tells him that it is a secret that cannot be told. The two therefore develop a relationship that is clouded in mystery. When Xiaoyu becomes missing after an argument, Xianglun decides to hunt his love down and unravels the mystery behind “Secret.”

The mysterious love affair that crossed the tides the time triggered heated debates among fans. Tamkang Secondary School, the vintage, beautiful campus where the movie was set, was Chou’s alma mater. Chou claimed that all the scenes in the movie had been visited by him and his first love, and the school became the Mecca for many fans who wanted to solve the mystery. The auditorium and the antique classrooms and corridors of the school were shown in the movie as they are, without the slightest modification.

The movie, Cape No.7 has cost NT$50 million dollars in production, and by word of mouth, the movie gained its high popularity, earning more than NT$ 400 million dollars. It became the 2nd top grossing film in the nation’s cinematic history, and the highest grossing Chinese-language film of all time. It even won six awards in the 45th annual Golden Horse Festival Awards, a true miracle for the Taiwan film industry.

The director, Wei Te-Sheng intersperses two romances of different era together, crossing time and space. It tells the story of a Japanese teacher in the late 1940’s, who was forced to return to his country, leaving the regret of not being able to be with his lover Kojima Tomoko. His love for her was kept in seven love letters. Sixty years later, Aga, the depressed lead vocal of a band and Tomoko, a publicist from Japan started off with a frustrating trial period but unexpectedly began a relationship. Meanwhile, it depicts a group nobodies, from different walks of life and age, carrying the same dream for music. Together, they formed a band and carried the pressure of performing in a concert. In the face of love and the pursuit for dreams of music, they went for it and realized their dreams.

Cape No.7 has drawn people all over Taiwan to step into the cinema as it became a prevailing trend. Hengchun of Pingtung County also turned into a household name along with the popularity of the film. The storyline and conversations between the characters highlights the charm and cultural of Taiwan, touching a wide spectrum of people. The small town of Hengchung is now packed with movie fans searching for the scenic spots of the movie. The Pintung County Government also arranged bus tour lines, in hope of promoting local tourism industry, to visit some of the famous movie scenes such as the West Gate, Chateau beach resort, the white sand beach, Kenting Thoroughfare, Uncle Mao’s house, the country road where Uncle Mao delivered osts,

and Wanli Paulownia where Aga sat to observe the sea.

《悲情城市》上映前，由於是第一部劇情涉及到台灣政治最敏感的「二二八事件」爭議，直接挑戰當時台灣社會的禁忌話題，引發起各界人士矚目。然而，影片於義大利威尼斯影展榮獲最佳影片「金獅獎」的殊榮，成為首部在世界級三大影展內榮獲首獎的台灣電影，據信這是影片未遭禁演或刪剪的理由。

本片以臺北縣瑞芳鎮九份為主要場所，描述1945年台灣脫離日本統治，到1949年國民政府定都臺北的這段歷史，透過劇中林家四兄弟的遭遇，來訴說台灣光復後初期的社會情況與人民的生活樣貌，以及台灣統治勢力的轉變與政治環境的變遷。林家老大文雄把原有的藝旦間，重新開幕改名為「小上海」，在與上海人的衝突中被射殺；老二文森被徵去菲律賓當軍醫，至今杳無音訊；老三文良戰敗後被當成漢奸通緝，逃奔返台後卻發瘋了；老四文清與一批傾心社會主義的老師、記者朋友密切交往，然而二二八事件爆發，文清被捕，整個城市似乎悲情不已……。《悲情城市》上映後，觸發非常熱烈的迴響及討論，並帶動起拍攝場景九份的第二次繁榮，讓金瓜石地區成為台灣民眾與國外旅行團的遊覽勝地之一。

邱復生 Fu- Sheng Chiu

於1989年製作的《悲情城市》，是第一部贏得威尼斯影展金獅獎的台灣電影，1993年擔任《戲夢人生》製片。邱復生在台灣有“媒體大亨”之稱，事業版圖橫跨錄影帶、電影、電視、版權、音樂等，資歷完整。

The movie generated a lot of buzz prior to it release, for reasons that it was the first drama film to address a politically poignant and sensitive, historic issue, the 228 Incident.  The film represented a blatant, direct challenge against the arguably biggest taboo in the political circle, and lured much attention. The film won the Golden Lion at the 1989 Venice Film Festival, becoming the first Taiwan made movie to pick up a top prize at one of the world’s three heavyweight film galas. According to sources, this was the reason why the movie was not banned, or censored.

It tells the story of a family embroiled in the tragic "White Terror" that was wrought on the Taiwanese people by the Kuomintang government (KMT) after their arrival from mainland China in the late 1940s, after Taiwan was freed from the Japanese rule; the film depicts the Lin family and its experiences during the White Terror.

The film was set in Jiufen in the township of Ruifang. It reflected the social context and people’s lives shortly after Taiwan retrocession through the encounters of the four brothers in the family, and it recalled the transition in political powers and authoritarian rule’s shift. The eldest brother, Wen-hsiung, is murdered by a Shanghai mafia boss as he reopened a Chinese opera house into a new establishment, called, “Little Shanghai.” The second eldest brother is drafted to the Philippines as a medical officer and remains unaccounted for.  The number three brother is accused of being a turncoat and driven insane after returning to Taiwan. The youngest brother Lin Wen-Ch'ing is in close company with a group of socialist teachers and reporters. He was arrested as the 228 Incident erupted, and sadness of the city seemed endless. The film touched many people and gave rise to much discussion. It also revived the ghost town of Jioufen, where it was set, restoring the town’s past glory.  Jiufen therefore became a tourist hot spot for local and overseas tourists.

大學就要畢業的明相獨自一人展開七天六夜的單車環島旅程，從高雄出發，途經台東、花蓮、宜蘭、基隆、林口、苗栗、彰化，東岸到西岸的逆風行，一路所遇見的人與景，交織相扣，譜出生命的和弦。

台東往花蓮的路上，他遇到了藉由影像製造夢想的工作者，專心一意的想將太平洋的風捕捉入鏡；八斗子的美，有他難以言喻的情感，是兒時初戀的美好記憶，也是成長的點滴。騎到苗栗通霄白沙屯，回到老家，一聲「阿公阿嬤」喚起許多人的童年往事和遺忘已久的血肉親情……回到高雄，旅程結束，回憶卻正要開始。

《練習曲》由陳懷恩編劇、導演，藉此記錄臺灣的地方風俗、旅遊觀光、歷史故事、社會問題，短短的100分鐘內，帶領觀眾遊走台灣一圈，經歷人生的一個星期。台灣海岸線的多元化風貌，許多當地真實人物的故事，以及導演多年來在當地所認識的友人，都被融入劇情中，讓這部電影展現出半紀錄片、半劇情片的真實風格。片中經典對話「有些事現在不做，一輩子都不會做了」感動許多觀眾，同年暑假興起單車環島熱潮，於2007年創下台灣電影最多發行戲院、最長放映期的多項紀錄。

The protagonist, Ming-hsiang decided to set off on a journey by cycling round Taiwan alone before college graduation. The seven days journey started from southern Taiwan, Kaohsiung, heading north passing by Taitung, Hualien, Ilan, Keelung, Linkou, Miaoli, and Changhwa. The people and sceneries he met along the way interwove with one another, performing the harmonic chords of life.

Along the way from Taitung to Hualien, he came across some people who strive to fulfill their dreams by image making. They work intently in hope of capturing the winds of Pacific Ocean into their films. As Ming-hsiang bikes to Badouzih, he finds it hard to put down his sentiments for the beautiful landscapes into words, for the place embraces the sweet memories of his first love and upbringings. Arriving at his hometown Baidong Village, Tongsiao Township in Miaoli, a simple calling of “Grandpa” and “Grandma” evokes many of the childhood memories and strong kinship that has been long forgotten by many people. Finally, returning to the starting point, Kaohsiung, it is realized that though it was the end of the journey, precious memories are just beginning to unfold.

As the writer and director of Island Etude, En Chen takes the audience on a tour around Taiwan in 100 short minutes, introducing the customs, tourism, history and contemporary issues of the country. The diverse natural spectacles along Taiwan coastlines, real life stories of the people, and friends that En Chen has made through the many years he spent in the area, were all merged into the storylines. The ingenuous portrayal of the people and their lives in the film resemble a semi-documentary. The classic line in the travelogue, “there are certain things that if you don’t do now, you’ll never going to do it for the rest of your life,” touched the hearts of many people. After the release of the film, cycling around Taiwan has come into vogue that summer, it also set a number of records, including being released in the most number of theaters, with the longest run ever in 2007.

《月光下‧我記得》敘述五○年代下女子所服膺的社會價值觀，綑綁了許多美麗生命的一生，最特別的地方，就是把「電影」和「東海岸的觀光」結合。本片獲得第41屆金馬獎最佳女主角、最佳改編劇本大獎、第50屆亞太影展最佳編劇獎、評審團特別獎。

本片主要場景在台東「都蘭山」、「月光小棧」拍攝，劇情描述歷經婚變的寶猜帶著女兒隱居台東，本以為自己破碎的心將永遠存封於這片山林間，但從私密閱讀一封封女兒男朋友寄來的情書中，中年女人沉埋許久的情慾開始復甦流動，情愫重現…。許多的故事遺失在洪荒歲月裡，在皎潔的月光下悠悠浮動的，是那不可說的秘密。

在楊貴媚主唱的月光浮影主題曲中，影像除了表達出女主角寶猜封閉卻又寂寞的心裡世界，美麗的東海岸景色更是為整部片子加分不少。林正盛導演認為台東海岸之美，只要隨意找個海岸靜靜坐著，看浪、聽浪，或者喝杯咖啡，那就是人生最大的享受了。他希望透過電影鏡頭，讓大家欣賞最美的台東，並回饋台東父老的協助與用心，更希望藉此來帶動東海岸的觀光。

The Moon Also Rises is a movie that depicts the social ideology a female has to obey in the era of the 1950’s, hindering the life of many beautiful souls. What’s unique about this film is the combination of film and tourism in the east coast. The film has been awarded Best Leading Actress and Best Screenplay Adaptation in the 41st Golden Horse Film Festival, also The Best Screenplay and The Special Jury Prize in the 50th Asia Pacific Film Festival.

The movie chose its main scenes at Du-Lan Mountain and Moonlight Tavern in Taitung County and tells the story of a reclusive woman, Bao-Chai, who went through a difficult divorce. Hoping to withdraw and isolate herself from the society, she travels to Taitung along with her daughter. She thought that she could seal her tattered heart along with the mountains eternally, but after secretly reading the love letters from her daughter’s boyfriend, the long buried desire and romance of this mid-aged woman was rediscovered and revived. Many stories have been lost with the slip of time, those are the forbidden secrets, that could only be told to the pale moonlight.

In the music video of the movie theme song, “Shadows of the Moon” sung by Yang Kuei-Mei, the images not only express the lonesome and closed inner world of Bao-Chai, but also features the beautiful sceneries along the east coast of Taiwan, which compliments the whole film. The director, Lin Cheng-Sheng regards that the beauty of the Taitung coastal lines could be appreciated by simply sitting serenely beside the sea, to watch and listen to the rise and fall of the ocean, drink a cup of coffee, and enjoy the greatest pleasure of life. He hopes to introduce the beautiful landscapes of Taitung through the camera lenses and repay the kind intentions and assistance of the folks in Taitung. Lin Cheng-Sheng also wishes that the movie and its promotion could vibrate tourism in the east coast.

緣份遊戲在陽光四溢的港都高雄展開，場景在愛河邊。男孩借女孩五百元，卻要求她在紙鈔上寫下自己的姓名和電話。他跟她聲明：「如果哪天鈔票回到我手上，妳就要當我的女朋友！」他的大膽行徑，意外激起她心底的漣漪…

在《對不起，我愛你》中，處處可見田中千繪的真實縮影，包括來台發展星運不順、接拍了一部電影後，卻不知何去何從，不僅演出自己的心聲，也渴望能找到對的地方、對的人。所以她選擇逃離現實，南下高雄散散心，卻掉了皮夾，遇到當地男孩吳懷中，產生若有似無的情愫……或許那張鈔票在輾轉傳遞之下，早已註定了歸宿。

《對不起，我愛你》在2008『鬥魂』高雄電影節首映造成瘋狂搶購，全數銷售完畢，2009年年初全台上映。為了如實呈現高雄的人情與當地特色，還到了高雄最古老的區域—「鹽埕區」拍攝，場景包含「水漾愛河奧多咖啡」、「高雄市電影圖書館」、「真愛碼頭」、「舊崛江老街」、「武德殿」、「駁二倉庫」、「屋頂餐廳」、「新光碼頭」、「夢時代」等地。對導演林育賢來說，這些舊有的人事如此可愛，如果再不拍，那就沒了。希望藉由男女主角的導遊，為當地的景物創造出令人萌生「眷戀記憶」的感覺，也讓所有人回憶生命中曾有過的美好邂逅。

In the sunny harbor city, Kaohsiung, along the river bank of Love River, a game of love fate began. A boy offered five hundred NT dollars to help a girl, on the condition that the girl leaves her name and number on the bill. He proclaimed, “If this bill ever comes back to me one day, you’ll have to be my girlfriend.” Unexpectedly, his bold statement stirred up a ripple deep inside her heart.

In the movie, Sumimasen Love, Chie Tanaka finds her own voice as many parts of the film epitomize her life in reality. A Japanese girl, who comes to Taiwan in the hope of becoming a star, finds luck against her. After starring in a movie, she felt lost. As in real life, she yearns to find the right place and the right person. So she chooses to run away and unwind herself in Kaohsiung. Unfortunately, she loses her wallet and bumps into a local boy, Wu Huai-chung, and with that, subtle sparks of love began. Perhaps their love had been pre-destined with the toss and turning of that bill.

Sumimasen, Love stirred up a sensation in the 2008 Fiery Spirit-Kaohsiung Film Festival and sold out all of its advanced tickets. The film is projected to release in cinemas across Taiwan on January, 2009. To fully portray the spirit and feature of Kaohsiung, the set visited the most ancient area in Kaohsiung-“Yancheng District” to shoot in scenes such as “The Outdoor Caf’e, “Kaohsiung Film Archive”, “True Love Harbor”, ”Old Jyue Jiang Shopping Area”, “Wu-De Temple”, “Bo-Er Warehouse”, “Roof Park Lounge Bar”, “Singuang Ferry Wharf”, and “Dream Mall”. In the eyes of the director, Lin Yuxian, these lovable people and places from the old times should be a part of the film, or else they will be lost forever. Through the tour guide by the protagonists, the director hopes to evoke the sentiments of “attachment to memories” with these local sceneries, also indulging people in the memorable encounters they have had in their lives.

《天邊一朵雲》刻劃出了都市男女之間的情慾，是蔡明亮導演有史以來最受爭議的情色電影，還未上映之前就充滿了話題性，蔡明亮也因本片獲得2005柏林影展「最佳藝術貢獻」銀熊獎的殊榮。

劇情描述陳湘琪愛上一個A片演員的故事。缺水年代，每個人各有其求水之道，政府鼓勵大家多喝西瓜汁解渴。片中透過『吃西瓜』來觀察男女之間的情慾，把男女偶然的相遇，比喻作天上的雲，把又大又圓的西瓜及壓榨出來的鮮艷汁液，來作為充滿色香味的肉，將孤獨男女對情愛的飢渴，投射到新鮮嫩滑、令人垂涎欲滴的西瓜肉汁象徵之中，暗示「性」其實時時刻刻存在於人的生活中，卻經常被世俗與道德所刻意遮蔽。

劇情推進過程中穿插超現實歌舞狂想，在高雄市「蓮池潭龍虎塔」、「光雕橋」及「河堤社區」等地取景，搭配誇張服飾及歌舞劇風格，兼顧娛樂與商業的價值。上映後，十天內隨即突破一千萬元新台幣的亮眼票房，創下當時台灣電影最佳賣座紀錄。另一方面，本片因在高雄市的數個熱片景點取景拍攝，以城市行銷高雄，成為第一部獲得電影獎勵金1000萬元的電影。

Movie, the Wayward Cloud sheds light on the sexual desires of male and female city dwellers.  It is a 2005 film directed by Tsai Ming-liang, and the most controversial erotic piece in his career.  The movie generated much buzz before its release.  Tsai picked up the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Achievement for The Wayward Cloud at the 2005 Berlin International Film Festival.

The story told of Chen Hsiang-chyi, who fell in love with a porn star.  In that age where water was a prized commodity, everyone figured out a way to quench his or her thirst.  The government encouraged the general public to consume watermelons as an alternative to water drinking.  The movie takes a sideline to portray the erotic desires between men and women through the act of watermelon eating, and liken the chance encounters between the sexes to the clouds in the sky.  The plump, huge watermelons and the bright, luscious juice squeezed from the melons are likened to the carnal flesh.  The hunger for love of the lonely men and women is projected to the fresh, supple, smooth and mouthwatering melon flesh, implying that sex is omnipresent in man’s life, but obscured by the restraints of moral customs.

As the story progressed, fantasies of song and dance are interlaced throughout, and shot at “The Lotus Lake – the Dragon and Tiger Tower,” “The Light Sculpture Bridge,” and  “The Riverfront Community” in the city of Kaohsiung, and complemented by farcical, outlandish costumes and a theater flair.  The film is both entertaining and commercially lucrative.  This film grossed more than NT$10 million in its theatrical release in Taiwan within 10 days, and set the record in the Taiwan film industry as the most box office worthy movie in history.

On the other hand, the movie was shot on several locations in Kaohsiung, and as a result marketed the city’s tourism prospects.  It became the first film to be awarded NT$10 million of extra perks for promoting tourist economy.
